The Customs Department in Lumut, Perak, required a heavy duty marine cargo ramp to assist in their activities in the Lumut Port area.

ESC provided complete geotechnical and structural designs and supplied the materials for the sheet pile wall and tie back system in very soft marine clay conditions. The adopted design was a sheet pile wall restrained by a series of tiebacks that were anchored back to buried deadmen. The sheet piles were corrosion protected with a 400 micron coal tar epoxy paint. All tie back units were galvanised and then plastic sheathed to protect them from the corrosive environment.
