1) Is Earth Support Company (M) Sdn Bhd a Malaysian company?
YES! ESC is a joint venture between Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Malaysian and International workers manufacture all sheet piles at ESC’s factory in Johor. This means that the vast majority of cash spent on ESC’s piles goes straight back to the Malaysian economy. ESC now manufactures in both Malaysia and China. The operation in China is a joint venture between ESC and Zhejiang. The new company is called Zhejiang ESC Pile Co., Ltd.
2) Is the ESC Sheet pile competitively priced?
YES! The ESC sheet pile is competitive against other brands of sheet piles. Due to ESC’s designs, the strength to weight ratio is much higher than standard piles, meaning that less weight is required to achieve the same results. This goes for the “wide” sheet pile and the new U Piles. This result is a direct saving for the client.
3) Is it better to buy a standard ESC pile, design my own, or get ESC to do the design?
This is a matter of personal preference and site constraints. Many people prefer to do their own designs as they feel they have a better understanding of the site conditions. For general purposes and when there isn’t a lot of information about the site conditions, a standard ESC pile is recommended. If the problem is very complex and sufficient information about the site is available, it is recommended that ESC are brought in to put the full weight of their design technology and experience behind the design. This service comes backed by a guarantee and is provided free of charge.
4) ESC’s Sheet Pile is a welded product. Are the welds safe?
YES! ESC’s welding procedures are inspected and certified by accredited auditing bodies, to ensure that the final weld is stronger than the parent metal itself. In addition, ESC welding procedures are in accordance with the latest International Standards on Piling, which permit and approve welds in sheet piles.
5) What sort of delivery time can I expect?
Delivery times are dependent on the quantity and design of the piles requested. Smaller orders can usually be filled immediately, however the larger orders may take a little longer. For large orders, ESC will usually start deliveries as soon as the first piles are ready and keep delivering until the job is finished. This has the advantage that the client is not delayed and does not have the entire stock of piles delivered at once, causing storage problems. The first piles can be delivered anywhere in Asia Pacific within 28 days.
6) Do ESC install piles as well?
YES! In Malaysia, ESC have its own in-house construction arm ESC Projects (M) Sdn Bhd, a CIDB registered G7 (PKK B) contractor that has vast experience in installing the ESC piles. For International Projects (Outside Malaysia) ESC has technical staff who will travel to any destination. Presently, staff has supervised sites in Bangladesh, Singapore, Cambodia, New Zealand, Australia, UAE and Jamaica among others.
7) The ESC “wide” Sheet Pile is very large. Will I have trouble driving it?
NO! Depending on the soil characteristics on the site, ESC’s piles usually drive very easily. ESC’s piles have the advantage that during installation the wide body of the pile vibrates and draws the moisture from the soil, effectively coating the smooth pile surface with a lubricant and allowing it to slide into the soil. ESC piles have been driven into soil conditions ranging from marine clay to hard boulder clays and condensed sands.
8) Do ESC provide technical backup after the piles are delivered?
YES! Once the piles have been delivered, ESC do not consider their responsibility to end. ESC technicians will visit the site regularly, particularly during mobilisation and start-up, to assist with information or advice regarding the sheet piles. In addition, ESC is always available for contact should any problems arise or any queries need answering. After sales service is one of ESC’s strongest objectives.
9) Do ESC export sheet piles?
YES! ESC have supplied sheet piles to Singapore, Australia, Cambodia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Jamaica, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
10) Does ESC make sheet piles smaller than 1 metre width?
YES. The new U Pile has been produced to allow the use of silent piliers and to cater for those who have requirements for smaller profile piles. These piles are very good for temporary works where reuse is a factor.
