The project consulting engineer had designed a normal reinforced concrete wall to retain a foothill behind the under construction Shell’s petrol station in Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, the open excavation for the toe could not be carried out as there was a possibility for hill slide.
ESC sheet piles were proposed as an alternative solution, whereby no excavation was required. Custom lengths sheet piles in 3.0m, 6.0m and 9.0m were employed in the job to provide savings to the overall construction cost. The clutches were fully welded to ensure no seepage occurred through sheet pile joints. Jotamastic paint was used for corrosion control as well as superb finish look.
The project was completed in November 2004.
