ESC Projects (M) Sdn. Bhd. was appointed to supply and install permanent sheet piles as cut-off for river barrage. Custom P-Series Sheet Piles is adapted to suit the requirements of a seepage and scour cut-off. 6m long sheet piles were installed around the outer edge of the upstream and downstream aprons of a new barrage for a length of 750m.

A 5 ton hydraulic vibrohammer was used to drive the sheet piles to the soft marine clays ground conditions with minor interbeds of sand creating a higher lateral permeability. To provide impervious sheet pile wall, clutches were sealed with cement bentonite slurry. All debris was flushed out from the pipe clutches prior introduced with bentonite sealent. The sheet piles selection and method of installation used has been proven fasten the construction progress as the project completed earlier than expected by the client. Only 6 weeks was required to complete the sheet piles installation including grouting works.
